One of the most important but confusing game modes that players can participate to obtain various important rewards to advance in their team building and to make the best team is, ironically, one of the game modes that offer all players an even playing field by offering players the same amount of resources, heroes and resources in order to build their best team - the special Honor Duel game mode.

AFK Journey Honor Duel - Everything You Need To Know 

AFK Journey special gamemode Honor Duel is a special mode where players have the ability to duel with various enemies using a set amount of abilities and characters that players are given at the start of the team building process and are required to complete the many challenges with the team. Through the buying artifacts, new teammates and defeating different challenges, players will be able to obtain points in order to get various amazing rewards that will aid them in their farming in the future.

Honor Duel - What Is It

As mentioned, Honor Duel is one of AFK Journey’s fair game gamemode, meaning its contents aren’t dependent on the players’ current in-game status or the amount of heroes each player has in their roster when compared to others. In honor duel, players will have a set amount of heroes that they can recruit and pick from, with their stats, skills and abilities predetermined. 

From the set heroes, players must overcome challenges to obtain special points to upgrade the heroes and recruit more heroes to add to the roster and diversify the team for more challenging stages. 

For each stage the players clear, the difficulty will increase. However, players will also obtain special points that they can use to exchange for special rewards and upgrades while challenging the mode.

The final goal is to finish as many stages as possible and obtain as many wins as possible to accumulate special points at the end of each run to obtain the rewards.

Honor Duel - Upgrades And Recruitment Shop

At the start of a run in Honor Duel and after each win, players will be able to enter a special shop that allows them to exchange battle points to obtain various upgrades to help aid them in clearing the stages more quickly and efficiently allowing them to obtain more rewards during the Honor Duel stage clearing processes.

These upgrades mainly come in 2 different forms: artifacts and recruitments. Artifacts are special items that give special boosts to all allies throughout all of the battles, these include offensive buffs such as Ultimate damage up, skill damage up, Faction resonance increase or defensive buffs such as increase HP, increase Defense, healing increase and many more. These artifacts differ in their effects depending on their rarity and some of them affect all battles while some only affect 1 battle at a time so players should pay close attention and read through their effect carefully before spending their hard earned points in exchange for them. Each hero can be equipped with 1 artifact each and they will only affect the equipped hero, so players should choose carefully who to put the artifacts on as well.

The other upgrade players can get are recruitments, which allow players to recruit up to 3 heroes at the same time, with 2 different types of recruitments players can buy. The first recruitment is a random recruitment pack which allows players to recruit up to 3 random heroes from any factions. The other recruitment pack players can buy is the faction exclusive recruitment pack, which is more expensive but will guarantee that players will obtain 3 heroes from the same faction, allowing players to generate the special faction bonuses by forming teams with them.

Honor Duel - Featured Heroes and Hero Buffs

Within Honor Duel exclusively, only specific heroes are allowed to appear in each faction in the recruitment process, severely limiting the abilities for players to make their teams or recruit some of the more familiar heroes that they have been using in their own teams. The list of available heroes changes from season to season, allowing players to shake things up and try different team combinations and different heroes so that they can have a better understanding of the game’s many heroes’ skills and abilities.

In addition to the featured heroes, specific heroes will also receive buffs and nerfs depending on the season and how powerful they are in specific team comps in order to promote diversity in team building from players and keep them from abusing only powerful characters to get through the challenges coming their way. Each nerfs and buffs are unique to specific heroes and are only active when players use them within Honor Duel and does not affect their actual performances and abilities when used outside of Honor Duel. Therefore, before recruiting specific heroes in Honor Duel, players need to pay close attention to their specific Heroes adjustments to have an idea of which characters are being nerfed in the gamemode and which characters are worth recruiting due to their buffs.

Recruit As Many Heroes As Possible

Honor Duel is a mode that heavily depends on the players’ ability to diversify their tactics in battle and have the knowledge and ability to set up specific heroes to deal with specific enemy threats. Therefore, recruiting as many heroes as possible to take advantage of the diversity of skills and ultimates are very important in the game mode.

In addition, having as many heroes as possible will allow players to have more backups in case the heroes are defeated from the previous fights.

Boost Heroes’ Power Through Artifacts

Each hero can be equipped with 1 artifact that has the ability to boost the power of the specific hero. Therefore, figuring out which artifacts will benefit which hero the most is a key factor that players will also need to consider when buying artifacts to boost the power of the specific hero. In addition, since most heroes in this game mode only have 1 artifact slot to equip, players shouldn’t spend too much of their points in buying too many artifacts in the shop. Instead, they should buy the most genetically powerful artifacts and exchange them between heroes accordingly throughout the fights before they have the chance to fill out all 5 heroes’ artifact slots.

Pay Close Attention to Featured and Adjusted Heroes

Buffs and Nerfs exclusive to heroes are extremely relevant in this game mode as they will absolutely make or break a hero’s viability in team building where a difference in stats will determine whether or not you will be able to clear the stages.

Therefore, players need to pay close attention to the changes in the Hero Adjustment list and the featured heroes list in order to determine a game plan before attempting Honor Duel in order to ensure their victories against their opponents as best as they can to obtain all of the game mode’s exclusive rewards.
