At the start of every Depth Of Illusive Realm runs, players will have to pick one of the available Resonators to play as exclusively in the the gamemode, if players have a copy of the Resonator in their roster, they can choose to use their own version of the resonator, otherwise, they will have to borrow the resonator from the game selection to be able to partake in the challenge.
At the start of the challenge, depending on the resonator chosen, players will be given a special choice between 2 special Echoes to be used during the challenge. Throughout the challenge duration, players will have the chance to counter a White Cat and a strange mask man, these characters will serves as special transaction and points where players can obtain special Resonator Upgrades to upgrade one of the 3 abilities of the Resonator - Basic Attack, Resonator Skill and Resonance Liberation or obtain special exclusive “Metaphors”. These metaphors are treated as artifacts that grant players special buffs that can be stacked and offer players special Sigils to fulfill the requirements to unlock the Special Abilities of their echoes. The higher the rarity of the Metaphor, the more powerful the effects are and the more Sigils they will provide, up to 3 sigils of a given element.
