Zenless Zone Zero Currencies And Materials - What You Need To Know

Important Currencies

The generic currencies in the game are divided into 3 types of currencies: standard currencies, rare currencies and premium currencies.

The standard currency for the game is Dennies, which functions as your main type of currency in the game and is used for everything from buying items in game, upgrading Agents and W-Engines to spending them for other generic uses in the game. This currency can be obtained from missions, commissions and other means from in-game. Their equivalent in Genshin Impact are Mora and their equivalent in Honkai Star Rail are LMD.

The Rare currency in the game are Polychromes. These are your most important in-game currency and serve as a type of currency that can be used for many important things, namely purchasing gacha items and refilling your energy. These can be obtained in limited quantities and should be saved up like in any other gacha games. Their equivalent in Genshin Impact are Primogems and their equivalent in Honkai Star Rail are Stellar Jades.

The Premium currency in the game are Monochromes. These are the currency that you can obtain from spending real life money into the game. These Monochromes can be exchanged into Polychromes for the various uses in game or can be used as normalt to purchase special Packs in the store.

Gacha Currencies

Aside from the generic currencies, the game also feature 3 different types of Gacha Currencies:

Master Tapes: These tapes are used to roll on the Stable Channel to obtain Standard banner and Permanent Agents, each Master Tape is equal to 160 Polychromes. These tapes can be obtained from completing various missions, commissions, ascending Agents or can be obtained through exchanging Polychromes in the shop.Their equivalent in Genshin Impact are Acquaint Fates and their equivalent in Honkai Star Rail are Star Rail Passes.

Encrypted Master Tapes: These tapes are used to roll on the Agents Exclusive Channel or the W-Engine Exclusive Channel. These can be exchanged in the shop for 160 Polychromes each or obtained from various missions, events and more in game. These tapes are extremely important so players need to save them up to spend on the Limited Banner Characters of their choices.Their equivalent in Genshin Impact are Intertwined Fates and their equivalent in Honkai Star Rail are Star Rail Special Passes.

Boopons: These are the exclusive Zenless Zone Zero Gacha currencies for players to be able to obtain the various Bangboos in the game. There are no normal ways to obtain these Boopons aside from completing events and finishing certain gamemode missions, so players should be conservative when spending these.

Character & W-Engines Upgrading Materials

In order to advance in the game and build up the different Agents, players will need to obtain a large variety of materials to be used to upgrade them.

Firstly, all Agents will requires EXP upgrading materials in the form of Investigation Logs. These Logs will provide Agents with set amounts of EXP for each one consumed and the rarity of these are divided into 3 different rarities, the higher rarity Log, the more EXP they provide. Their equivalent in Genshin Impact are Hero Wits and their equivalent in Honkai Star Rail are Traveler’s Guides.

In order to advance and upgrade Agents, players will also need to use the different Seals to ascend the characters and unlock their level cap to higher levels. These can be obtained from the VR training simulation game modes.

In addition to Agents, W-Engines serve as a way for players to grant Agents stats and special abilities and passive to help them in battle. These serve as the Agent’s Weapons like in Genshin Impact or Light Cone in Honkai Star Rail. The rarity of the W-Engines ranges from S Rank to B rank, with many S Ranks are considered signature W-Engines for certain Agents.

To upgrade W-Engines, players will need to use the W-Engine Energy Modules to grant them EXP and use the different Components to ascend them and unlock their higher level caps.

Energy Currencies & Items

As with other gacha games, there is an energy system in Zenless Zone Zero where players will need to spend certain amounts of energies known as Batteries in order to challenge the different contents in the game to obtain the various character and W-Engine upgrade materials. The energy equivalent of Genshin Impact is Resin and for Honkai Star Rail its Trailblazer Energy.

The Batteries once every 6 mins and will have a cap at 240 Batteries at maximum. If the battery reaches max cap, it will no longer naturally regenerate. Players have 2 different ways to replenish the batteries immediately. The first way to replenish the batteries right away is to spend Polychromes to restore 60 Batteries at a time, however, players can only do this a certain amount of time daily, with each replenishment increasing in Polychromes cost.

The other way to replenish battery immediately is spending the Ether Batteries, items that players can obtain from various events and certain missions. Spending these batteries will replenish 60 batteries for each Ether Battery used. These functions similarly to Genshin Impact’s Fragile Resin or Honkai Star Rail’s Fuels.

Other Important Notes

Similarly to the different gacha games from Hoyoverse, Zenless Zone Zero divides the different Agents into different classes and elements depending on how their kit works and their roles in a team.

As Genshin Impact have 5 different weapon types: Sword, Claymore, Bow, Catalyst and Polearm, and Honkai Star Rail have the different Paths like Hunt, Preservation, Erudition, Nihility, Destruction, Abundance and Harmony, Zenless Zone Zero divides its Agents into the different Agent types: Attacker, Stun, Support, Anomaly and Defense.

In the same vein, similar to how Genshin Impact divides the different characters’ elements into Anemo, Pyro, Cryo, Electro, Hydro, Geo and Dendro, and Honkai Star Rail dividing its characters into elements such as Imaginary, Quantum, Fire, Wind, Ice and Thunder, Zenless Zone Zero also divides the different damage types into 5: Ice Elemental Damage, Electric Elemental Damage, Fire Elemental Damage, Ether Elemental Damage and Physical Damage, each with their own Anomaly effects.

Finally similar to how Genshin Impact players can build characters with Artifacts and how Honkai Star Rail characters can be equipped with Relics, the different Agents in Zenless Zone Zero can be equipped with many different Drive Disc in order to boost their stats and obtain various beneficial effects, with a total ot 6 Drive Disc slots, allowing players to equip 2 different sets of Drive Disc with different effects when 4 pieces and 2 pieces of Drive Disc are equipped.
