One of the most important and rewarding game modes players can unlock and play with in Zenless Zone Zero is the game’s roguelite gamemode - Hollow Zero, with players being able to explore the different areas in order to obtain large amounts of rewards every week and challenge many difficult enemies.

Hollow Zero - Everything You Need To Know
Like with other games from Hoyoverse, Zenless Zone Zero also features a special Roguelite gamemode where players will have the chance to challenge randomly generated battles and contents in order to obtain various important rewards to help with their accounts’ progression and to upgrade their Agents. This game mode is called Hollow Zero.
How To Unlock Hollow Zero
Hollow Zero is a special game mode where players can explore the different Hollow Areas in order to encounter special occurrences and challenge many different enemies and bosses in order to obtain special buffs and currencies in order to complete each of the exploration zones and obtain various rewards for completing each area.
In order to unlock the special mode Hollow Zero, players will need to have reached Account level 20 and finished the main story of the game up to a certain point. Once fulfilled, the players will receive a special commission requiring them to visit a brand new area - Scott Outpost where they will meet the important NPC Ray and be able to access the Hollow Zero gamemode. As the players progress in the main story and increase their Account Level, they will unlock brand new more difficult areas to explore and clear in Hollow Zero in order to obtain special first time clear rewards.
Hollow Zero Exploration Zones & Exclusive Buffs
The Hollow Zero gamemode is divided into special Exploration Zones that players can unlock the more they progress in the game and increase their Account levels. These Zones each have their own gimmick, requiring players to do certain things to obtain special buffs in order to strengthen their teams when exploring the zone in order to be able to challenge the final boss at the end. When exploring in the Hollow Zero zones, players will encounter special events and obtain special buffs of different attributes , enhancing the abilities of their teams accordingly.
After completing each exploration attempt, players will be able to obtain special Crystal items corresponding to the zone that they just finished exploring. These crystals can be used to unlock special permanent buffs in the Combat Configuration, granting special buffs to players before entering the Exploration Zones.
Hollow Zero License Levels & Bounty Commissions
When exploring the different Hollow Areas in Hollow Zero, once players have completed an exploration, they will receive a certain amount of Exploration points. These exploration points will accumulate and increase the players’ Exploration level, increasing the level after certain amounts of Exploration points accumulated and rewarding players with special rewards for each level they have reached. Players will be able to obtain a set amount of Exploration points each week, with the maximum amount of points that players can obtain increasing the higher the players’ account level is, so players should pay attention to this and obtain the maximum amounts of points every week to ensure that they can obtain all of the Exploration Level rewards as quickly as possible.
Aside from the various rewards from the Exploration Levels, players can obtain even more rewards every week by completing the special Bounty Commissions. These bounty Commissions will be given out every week with up to 7 commissions that players will need to complete in order to obtain all of the rewards. Players can obtain Polychromes, Master Tapes and Bangboo upgrading materials by completing these Commissions every week.
Hollow Zero Research Log & Outpost Logistic Exchange Shop
After completing multiple explorations in the Hollow Zero, players will be able to encounter various special occurrence events and obtain various special buffs when exploring. These special occurrences and special buffs will be recorded the first time players obtain them in the Hollow Zero Research Log and players will be rewarded with special rewards the more first time occurrences or buffs they encounter throughout their exploration. After each exploration attempt, players can talk to Ray and look at their Research Log Progress for Hollow Zero where special first time encounter missions will be available. For each mission that has been completed, players will be rewarded with Polychromes and for every 10 missions players have completed, they will be able to obtain even more Polychromes for their effort. These missions are permanently available and offer players a large amount of currencies they can obtain throughout their Hollow Zero experience.
In addition, after completing each exploration run in Hollow Zero, players will obtain special currencies known as Z-Merits. These Z-Merits can be exchanged in the Outpost Logistic Exchange shop for special items, including Master Tapes, Boopons, Agents upgrading materials and more. These special items can be exchanged a set amount of time and they will be reset every month at the start of the month.

Always Obtain The Maximum Exploration Points Weekly
As Exploration points and Exploration Levels plays an important part in the Hollow Zero game mode and players are restricted to only be able to obtain a set amount of exploration points and increase their exploration level by a set number every weeks, it is extremely important that players take note of this and obtain the maximum amount of Exploration points possible every week in order to obtain the exploration level rewards as quickly as possible.
Use Many Different Teams Throughout Different Explorations
Another big source of rewards players can obtain from the Hollow Zero gamemode stems from the special Research Log that documents every single first event encounter and buff that players obtain throughout their explorations and rewards players according to the amounts of first encounters or buffs they managed to record. As the majority of the buffs players can obtain from Hollow Zero’s explorations are dependant on the different team’s elements, it is highly recommended that players uses different teams to explore the Hollow Zero zones in order to encounter more unique and never before seen buffs to record them into the Log and complete missions in order to obtain even more rewards from the game mode.
Always pay attention to the different buffs that appear when encountering them in the exploration zones, above the buffs have the new sticker attached to them, players should obtain them in order to record them into the log to obtain more rewards. Players should also go through the entire map and get into as many encounters as possible in order to record brand new encounters as much as possible to record the most amount of encounters possible in order to obtain the rewards from the Research Log.
