Zenless Zone Zero Notorious Hunt & Expert Challenge Game Modes Guide

As Zenless Zone Zero is entering its official launch content patch’s 2nd half with many interesting events, brand new commissions and story missions for players to participate in and obtain various rewards from, many players may have had the chance to experience many of the game’s various important game modes and have been able to obtain various different Agents and W-Engine upgrading materials needed to build the different Agents and challenge the more difficult end game contents of Zenless Zone Zero. For more mid and late game of Zenless Zone Zero, however, players will need to level up the most important thing for Agents in order to maximize their damage output - the Agent’s core skills. However, in order to level up these skills, players will need to be able to obtain special boss materials only available in 2 of the game’s challenging game modes - the Expert Challenge Game mode and the Notorious Hunt Game mode.

 

In this guide, we will go over the 2 special mid to late game game mode of Zenless Zone Zero - The Expert Challenge and Notorious Hunt Game modes and advises players on the different bosses in each game modes in order for them to be able to obtain Agent upgrading materials to unlock the different Agents’ Core Skills and abilities.

 

 


Zenless Zone Zero Expert Challenge Game Mode - Everything You Need To Know

Expert Challenge is a special game mode available for players where they will have to challenge waves of enemies and 1 boss enemies with different teams of Agents in order to be able to obtain special boss materials needed to unlock and upgrade the level of the different Agent’s Core Skills. 

Expert Challenge Game Mode - How To Unlock

In order to unlock the Expert Challenge Game mode in Zenless Zone Zero, players will need to have completed the main story of the game up to a certain point in the main story and have reached high enough of an account level. In addition, in order to access the Expert Challenge Game Mode, players will need to have unlocked the HIA Gameclub explorable area.

Once they have finished the main story chapter 1 and reached account level 20, players will be able to unlock the Expert Challenge Game Mode through a special commission. Once unlocked, players can access the Expert Challenge Game Mode whenever they like from the HIA Gameclub.

Expert Challenge Game Mode - Boss Challenges

The Expert Challenge Game Mode Consists of different stages and bosses that players will need to pick in order to challenge and obtain the special boss materials once they have managed to defeat all of the enemies waves.

Each of the boss challenges in Expert Challenge Game Mode comes with at least 1 wave of smaller enemies and 1 wave of Elite enemies in addition to the boss enemy. The different Boss enemies have different types of Elemental Resistances and Elemental Weaknesses based on the type of materials players want to obtain, so players should pay attention to the different boss weaknesses before forming a team to challenge these stages.

 

Furthermore, each of these stages will feature a special buff that players can take advantage of in order to increase their damage and clear the stages quicker, so players should pay attention to these buffs before challenging the enemies.

Expert Challenge Game Mode - Cost & Rewards

Each Challenge of the Expert Challenge Game Mode will cost players 40 Battery Charge per attempt and they will need to spend that amount of Battery Charge in order to obtain the rewards at the end of the challenge.

The main reward for the Expert Challenge Mode are the Higher Dimensional Datas, which can be used to unlock and upgrade the different Agents’ Core Skills. These Higher Dimensional Datas are unique to the different challenges and different Agents require different types of Higher Dimensional Data depending on which of the boss materials they want.

 

In addition, players should note that the higher their Account level and Proxy Rank is, the more difficult these challenges will become but the more rewards players will be able to obtain from these challenges.


Zenless Zone Zero Notorious Hunt Game Mode - Everything You Need To Know

Similar in nature to the Expert Challenge gamemode, Notorious Hunt is another boss challenge game mode in Zenless Zone Zero where players are required to defeat bosses of different elemental types in order to obtain special rewards and materials that can be used to unlock and upgrade Agent’s Core Skills and Abilities.

Notorious Hunt Game Mode - How To Unlock

In order to unlock the Notorious Hunt Game Mode, players will need to have unlocked the Scott Outpost Explorable Area once they have reached Account level 23. Once they have unlocked the area, they will be able to advance in the main story of the game and unlock the Notorious Hunt game mode once they have reached Account level 30 and have advanced to a certain point in the game’s main story.

The Notorious Hunt Game Mode is available permanently once players have unlocked them at Account Level 30 and will be accessible to all players at the Scott Outpost.

Notorious Hunt Game Mode - Boss Challenges

Similar to the Expert Challenge Game Mode, Notorious Hunt involves players challenging waves of enemies in order to obtain various materials and special items that they can use to unlock and upgrade the skill level of different Agents’ Core Skill.

The challenges in Notorious Hunt consist of 3 different enemy waves each Boss Stage, with the 1st stage involving an Elite enemy and 2nd and 3rd Wave involving the Boss Enemies’ 2 phases. The different Boss enemies have different types of Elemental Resistances and Elemental Weaknesses based on the type of materials players want to obtain, so players should pay attention to the different boss weaknesses before forming a team to challenge these stages.

Furthermore, each of these stages will feature a special buff that players can take advantage of in order to increase their damage and clear the stages quicker, so players should pay attention to these buffs before challenging the enemies.

Notorious Hunt Game Mode - Cost & Rewards

Defeating the Stage will reward players with special Outpost Currencies that can be used in the Outpost Logistic Exchange shop and special Boss Materials that can be used to unlock and upgrade the different Agents’ Core Skills.

Please keep in mind that, unlike the Expert Challenge game mode, players do not have to spend Battery Charge to obtain rewards from the Notorious Hunt Stages. However, in exchange, players will only be able to obtain rewards from the Notorious Hunt Stages a maximum of 3 times a week only, so players need to choose which of the materials they want to obtain each week carefully to upgrade their Agents accordingly. Different bosses will give players different boss materials, so players should pay attention to the Agent’s materials requirements before challenging these stages.

Notorious Hunt - Association Supply Exchange Shop

Everytime players clear the different challenge stages in Scott Outpost, aside from the Polychrome and Agents upgrading materials rewards, players will also receive special event exclusive items that can be used to exchange for various important items in the exchange shop - Association Supply.

At the Association Supply shop, players can spend their special game mode exclusive currencies - Investigation Merits in order to exchange for various unique and important items like Agents upgrading materials, Drive Disc EXP, W- Engine EXPs and more. Players can also obtain various Boopons that they can use to summon for Bangboos in the Bangboo channel and uniquely, they can obtain the special item Tuning Calibrator.

 

Tuning Calibrator is an important item for late game progression once players have unlocked S rank Drive Disc. With this item, players can select the stats that they want from a single Drive Disc, helping to cut down on the grinding needed to get the Drive Disc you want by allowing you to customize them.
