However, with limited resources and gacha currencies which of the 2 should players roll for?

In this article, we will go over the different abilities and combat capabilities of both Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao and debate their power and usefulness in regards to the current game meta in Wuthering Waves and advises players on whether or not they should roll on Zhezhi’s Limited rate Up banner or Xiangli Yao’s Limited rate Up Banner.

Zhezhi VS Xiangli Yao - Who Should You Roll For

With Wuthering Waves version 1.2 update release and many players excited to try out everything the update patch have to offer, including the game’s brand new gacha banners and gameplay updates, 2 special rate up banner featuring 2 new Limited Characters will also be introduced to players during Wuthering Waves’ Version Update Patch 1.2 - In The Turquoise Moonglow, allowing players to obtain 2 Limited 5* Resonators - the 5* Glacio Resonator Zhezhi and the 5* Electro Resonator Xiangli Yao.

Zhezhi

Zhezhi is a 5* Limited Glacio Elemental Resonator that uses a Rectifier as her main weapon in combat. She is a Glacio Sub DPS with support capabilities, being able to boost the damage of other Resonators with her skills and Forte Gauge abilities.

Zhezhi’s main strong point and gimmick lies in her ability to summon special familiars to aid herself and allies when attacking enemies, helping to deal coordinated attacks and boost the team’s overall damage. In addition, her abilities allow her to boost the team’s overall Glacio damage output and help to supplement other Resonators' energy needs.

Zhezhi’s normal attacks allow her to deal damage to the enemies, dealing Glacio damage and accumulating special Afflatus points when she deals damage. When Zhezhi’s Afflatus point is at 60 or higher, consumes 60 Afflatus points to summon a familiar to the field.

Zhezhi’s skill allows her to teleport to one of her familiars, unsummon them and deal Glacio damage to enemies nearby and gain a special stack of “Painter’s Delight”. If Zhezhi has 2 stacks of “Painter’s Delight” when she uses this ability, her skill will be enhanced and she will summon a special Crane Spirit to deal Glacio damage to enemies. These damages are considered basic attack damage.

Zhezhi’s Forte gauge allows her to accumulate Afflatus points with her abilities and spend them to summon special familiars to aid her and allies in battle, each of the familiar’s damage are considered basic attack damage, with up to 3 familiars being able to be summoned at the same time.

Finally, Zhezhi’s Resonance Liberation allows her a special Inkling Spirit to aid in battle, with the Inkling Spirit dealing massive amounts of Glacio damage to enemies as coordinated attacks. Up to 21 Inking Spirits can be summoned this way and their attacks’ damage are all considered as Basic Attack damage.

Xiangli Yao

Xiangli Yao is a Limited 5 Star Electro Element Resonator that wield gauntlets as his weapons and serves as a main Electro Elemental on field DPS with his immensely simplistic yet powerful skill kit, allowing him to dish out massive amounts of damage in short amounts of time.

Xiangli Yao’s main strong point and playstyle revolves around his ever changing Resonance Skills and his Forte Gauge, allowing him to switch between different modes with his skill to deal constant damage to enemies with his gauntlets.

Xiangli Yao’s normal attacks allow him to deal up to 5 consecutive Electro Elemental damage strikes to enemies. When hitting enemies with his normal attacks, Xiangli Yao will fill up his Forte Gauge’s ability Intuition and allows him to change his Resonance Skill’s phase when he accumulates enough Intuition points.

Xiangli Yao’s main damaging gimmick revolves around his Resonance Skill, which normally deals an instance of Electro Damage to the enemy. When Xiangli Yao obtains enough Intuition points, however, his Resonance Skill will be changed to Decipher, dealing more Electro damage and is considered as Resonance Liberation damage instead. Finally, when he obtains enough Intuition and has performed his combo correctly, his Resonance Skill will be further enhanced into Law Of Reigns, dealing even more Electro Damage to enemies.

Xiangli Yao’s Forte circuit allows him to accumulate Intuition when he attacks enemies and grants him a special combo once his Resonance Liberation has been used. When under this form, performing specific combos in sequences will grant Xiangli Yao special Performance Capacity buffs, helping him deal more damage.

Finally, Xiangli Yao’s Resonance Liberation allows him to enter Intuition form immediately, enhances his normal attacks into special normal attacks and changes his Resonance Skill Damage into Resonance Liberation damage.

Which Banners Should You Roll On

Before debating on which of the 2 banners players should roll on, it is important to note that, if players were to favor one Resonator over the other due to preferences or their love for the characters’ playstyle, personality or story, then players should prioritize getting the character they like.

However, if players are debating on which of the 2 Resonators they should get purely for gameplay and meta reasons, then players should consider some of these points:

Zhezhi VS Xiangli Yao - Which 5* Is More Beneficial To Have

Between Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao, these two resonators each serves a different playstyle and role in the overall combat and team building in Wuthering Waves, with Zhezhi being more of a damage support/ sub DPS resonator, while Xiangli Yao is more of a main DPS Resonator.

Zhezhi excels at summoning various familiars to help aid allies and herself in battle, helping to boost the overall damage output of all teammates and herself thanks to her familiars’ coordinated attacks. This ability allows her to be a very useful Resonator in many team comps and a very amazing teammate to Resonators such as Jinhsi, Changli and more.

Conversely, Xiangli Yao is a main DPS Resonator, with his skill kit making him a very powerful combo oriented Resonator that will deal massive amounts of damage as long as he is on the field.

However, before debating between rolling for Zhezhi or Xiangli Yao, players need to understand that, during the version 1.2 update patch, all players will be able to obtain the 5* Electro Resonator Xiangli Yao FOR FREE during his special event, meaning that as long as players participate in the event, they will all obtain a copy of Xiangli Yao for free. This means that among the 2 newly released Resonators, it is highly recommended that players roll for Zhezhi on her banner due to her being a limited resonator.

The Rate Up 4 Stars Resonators

For players who are not rolling on the 2 Limited Banners for the 5* Resonator and solely for the 4* Rated Up Resonators, here are some comparisons that you can take into consideration as well.

Zhezhi’s banner features Sanhua,Baizhi and Sanhua as the rated up 4* Resonators. Of the 3 4* Resonators, Chixia is an extremely powerful DPS Resonator with quick attacks and powerful Elemental damage. Baizhi is an amazing healer and support Resonator for a lot of teams and Sanhua is an amazing sub DPS Resonator that can help boost Resonators’ Normal Attacks.

Xiangli Yao’s banner features Danjin, Aalto and Yuanwu as 4* resonators on rate up. Of the 3 4* Resonators, Danjin is a powerful DPS Resonator that can deal massive amounts of damage by sacrificing her own HP. Aalto is an amazing sub DPS resonator with his attacks and Yuanwu is a decent energy supplement Resonator that can help support Resonators with energy.
