Welcome to our in-depth guide on the Drive Discs in Zenless Zone Zero! Today, we'll explore everything you need to know about Drive Discs—Zenless Zone Zero's gear system, similar to artifacts in Genshin Impact or relics in Honkai Star Rail. From acquiring to upgrading to dismantling, we've got you covered.

Understanding Drive Discs

Drive Discs are a crucial component that determines your character's stats. Each Drive Disc consists of 3 parts:

Drive Disc

  1. Main Stat: This is a primary attribute determined randomly when you obtain the disc.

  2. Substats: These are secondary attributes, also randomly determined, that enhance your character's abilities.

  3. Set Bonuses

When 2, or 4 piece from the same set are equipped together, Drive Discs will provide set bonus.

You can mix and match to get either a 4+2 set bonus or a 2+2+2 set bonus.

Currently, there are 13 total Drive disc  sets for S-rank discs:

- One set for each element.

Fanged Metal Chaotic Metal Inferno Metal Polar Metal Thunder Metal

- One set each for DEF, Crit rate, Impact, Anomaly Proficiency, and Energy Regen.

Soul Rock Woodpecker Electro Shockstar Disco Freedom Blues Swing Jazz

- Two sets for ATKs.

Puffer Electro Hormone Punk

Partitions

Drive Discs are divided into six partitions, each offering different main stats:

Drive Disc Slots

Partition 1: Flat HP

Partition 2: Flat ATK

Partition 3: Flat DEF

Partition 4: HP%, ATK%, DEF%, Crit Rate, Crit Damage, Anomaly Proficiency

Partition 5: HP%, ATK%, DEF%, PEN Ratio, Elemental Damage Bonus%

Partition 6: HP%, ATK%, DEF%, Anomaly Mastery, Impact, Energy Regen

Substats are universal across all pieces but cannot duplicate the main stat of the piece. Available substats include:

- Flat HP

- Flat ATK

- Flat DEF

- HP%

- ATK%

- DEF%

- Crit Rate%

- Crit DMG%

- PEN (flat)

- Anomaly Mastery

Acquiring Drive Discs

You unlock the Drive Disc system after completing the "Mechanic Love" commission at around Account Level 20+. There are two main ways to acquire Drive Discs:

Driver Validation

Use 60 stamina per run to farm stages that drop Drive Discs from two specific sets, plating agents, and Denny. Higher account levels unlock stages with better rewards, with the final two difficulties available at Account Level 50.

Dismantling Drive Discs

Dismantle

When you don’t want a Drive Disc anymore, you can also Dismantle the Drive Disc in the Bardic Needle

- Dismantling Drive Discs costs Dennies based on the rarity and level of the Drive Disc and grants you Plating Agents.

- Dismantling S rank Drive Discs will grant Military Plating Agents, used for S Rank Drive Disc Tuning.

Upgrading Drive Discs

Upgrading

Upgrading Drive Discs in Zenless Zone Zero is similar to other Hoyoverse games:

- B rank Drive Discs can go up to level 9.

- A rank Drive Discs can go up to level 12.

- S rank Drive Discs can go up to level 15.

For each level upgraded, the Main stat will increase.

For each 3 levels

  • If a Drive disc has less than 4 substats, a new substats will be gained

  • If a Drive Disc has 4 substats, one of the substats will be upgraded.

There are also some differences:

- Substats have fixed values per upgrade, reducing RNG.

- You can only upgrade Drive Discs using Plating Agents, excluding Military which are exclusively used for S-Rank Drive Disc Tuning.

- No Dennies are needed for upgrades; instead, the cost is offloaded to dismantling.
